Default Stinkwheel Classic Bike Show Beaumanor Hall Loughboro' 21/9/03.

PRESS RELEASE ASBM03 22 SEPT 2003.

Stinkwheel Classic Bike Show Beaumanor Hall Loughboro' 21/9/03.

More than a mile long queue of visitors were awaiting entry to the second
Stinkwheel Classic Bike Show as the gates of Beaumanor Hall Leics. opened on
Sunday 21st Sept. 2003.

Joint promotors Mike Powell and Transtar's Geoff Price had expected to build on the success of last years inaugural event, but the overwhelming support from enthusiasts for this particular show saw attendance up more than 50% in all areas.

Encouraged by the warm sunshine, hundreds of classic riders turned up on the day to join the 200 odd private concours bikes entered in advance at this superb venue on the edge of Charnwood Forest.

Main supporters "Classic Bike" magazine presented Best In Show winner Graham Holt (Morini Strada) with a years subscription and RealClassic.co.uk, newest and best online classic motorcycling mag., provided special awards for the major classes.

Motorcycling organisations taking part included the BMF, VMCC, local branches of BSA & Triumph Owners clubs and the welcome addition of a fine display of classic scooters by Leicester's Second Coming Scooter Club. The Christians M/C Association narrowly beat the BMW O/C for Best Club Stand.

Local trade supporters "MPC Motorbikes" and "Charnwood Classic Restorations" entertained the crowd with displays of their motorcycles in action, together with the "Piston Rings" junior stunt riders.
The popular timed trials section, run by members of the Tiger Cub Club, was won by teenage rider Ricky Goosey, who received 5 litres of oil from Morris Lubricants distributor John Button. Highlight for many was the appearance of local motorcycling vicar Rev. J. Phelps circulating the showring on the Mini-Moto, an entertaining combination of the tallest bloke on the smallest bike in the show.

Many leading suppliers of classic bikes, parts and services made up the large trade and autojumble areas in the grounds, and the Hall's fine interior rooms were filled mainly by local bike literature specialists BMS, plus other stalls displaying models, tools & equipment.

Beaumanor's autumn Stinkwheel Classic Bike Show, and the summer Stinkwheel Classic Bike Restoration event at the equally attractive venue of Sandon Hall, Stafford in July, have already become an essential part of the classic scene for many enthusiasts. The Vintage Motor Cycle Club's local chairman Les Smith was appreciative of the relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the show, favourably comparing Stinkwheel Show with their own Founder's Day event, the greatest compliment yet received by organiser Mike Powell.

Sponsors Leicester Mercury Newspaper Group have pledged support again for the event next year, extra car parking is also to be provided and plans are afoot to use the courtyard area for a major auction of motorcycles and related items. The venue is booked for September 19th. 2004, and many traders, owners and clubs have already reserved space.
