CUSTOM WINNERS AT ALLY PALLY SHOW

A local motorcycle dealership is celebrating its fantastic victories at the recent Ace Cafe London Motorcycle and Custom Show at Alexandra Palace. Shaw Harley-Davidson clinched four awards in the show, which is an affiliated event of the AMD Official World Championship of Custom Bike Building.

A major part of the Harley-Davidson® lifestyle involves customisation, so the Sussex dealership’s participation in the event, which took place on 26-28 February was particularly apt. There are two types of custom bike building, one is from the ground up and the other is to modify a Harley Davidson, both of which give fantastic results.

Shaw Harley-Davidson scooped the prestigious first prize in the Modified Harley-Davidson class. Its entry ‘Strike True II’, which is a stunning customised 2010 Harley-Davidson Softail Crossbones motorcycle, will now go forward to compete in the World Championship of Custom Bike Building in Sturgis later this year. The bike, which features a number of modifications, including a hand-made rear fender, fabricated petrol tank, 1940s style speedster handlebars and custom paintwork, is now on display at the Shaw Harley-Davidson Speed and Custom Shop in the dealership’s Holmes Hill showroom.

In addition, Shaw Harley-Davidson walked away with second and fourth places in the Modified Harley-Davidson class for its ‘Johnny Cash Get Rhythm’ – a custom 2004 Softail Nightrain – and ‘Salt Flat’ – a 1930s style 2006 Softail Heritage – entries.

The Shaw Harley-Davidson Speed and Custom Shop is designed especially for custom bike enthusiasts who are interested in modifying, refurbishing or stripping and re-building their motorcycles. The team at the dealership has been customising and painting motorcycles since it first opened more than seven years ago. Although, the Sussex-based dealership only launched the Speed and Custom Shop in January 2010, its recent accolades at the Ace Cafe London Motorcycle and Custom Show are testament to the dealership’s capabilities.

“We’re extremely happy,” enthuses Harley-Davidson Dealer Principal Steve Willis. “Winning at the Ace Cafe London Motorcycle and Custom Show is a huge achievement for us, and a great way to promote our services at the new Shaw Harley-Davidson Speed and Custom Shop.

“There were some stunning entries across the category from individuals, independent custom shops and authorised dealers alike, so we’re excited we came away with so many trophies – and the opportunity to compete in the World Championship of Custom Bike Building in Sturgis.”
