TRIUMPHANT SPACE INVADER

Most Triumph riders think that their machines are a work of art, but sculptor Anthony Wilson (www.sculpturemad.com) can lay claim to creating a real motorcycling work of art in the shape of the surreal ‘Triumphant Space Invader’.

“The Triumph head which makes up the statue was culled from a scrap yard,” states Anthony, “as soon as I saw it I knew it would make a great base for a sculpture.”

The Triumphant Space Invader has been accepted into the prestigious Open Arts Exhibition at the Black Swan and Rook Lane Chapel Galleries, a venue that it is safe to assume does not see bikes in attendance in any shape or form on a regular basis.

The Triumph is not the first time that Anthony has turned to scrap bikes for inspiration. His Silver Lady sculpture features parts from a Yamaha, while a Suzuki frame forms the basis for another surreal piece of work “Bike fans have a great time wandering around the sculptures and identifying the parts and the bikes they came from,” he laughs, “which is not always easy as pieces that left the factories as pieces of motorcycling engineering have changed into parts of gigantic space aliens.”

If anyone has some unwanted Triumph parts in the garage and fancies adding a Dali-esque motorcycling themed sculpture to their garden, Anthony would be pleased to discuss individual commissions. He may be reached on 01985 840 223 or contacted through his website www.sculpturemad.com
